Buckshaw Village, Lancashire
Provided a new multi-functional landscape that includes habitat creation, protected species support and the introduction of long-distance cycle routes linking Cass Associates’ earlier masterplan for a new village with the surrounding countryside.
- Landscape design and implementation covered over 28 Ha and accommodated 250,000m3 of arisings,
- Fulfils a range of functions: informal recreation, integration with the surrounding Green Belt through green corridors, habitat conservation, flood control, shelter and screening.
- Included the creation of new landscape framework containing linking sections to a long distance cycle route.
- Protected species (great crested newts and bats) were catered for through new habitat creation and the landscape design and management plan.
