FLOATING PASSENGER TERMINALS IN A WORLD HERITAGE ENVIRONMENT
The second project was to design a passenger terminal for embarking and disembarking ferry passengers, together with a fire and rescue station providing inshore rescue facilities, also built on a floating tidal pontoon linked to the shore by footbridges.
The buildings are located in a highly sensitive World Heritage Site and in an extremely challenging exposed marine environment.
Both projects were procured through Design and Build and, due to their siting on floating pontoons, involved a large degree of off-site construction requiring close co-ordination with the contractors.
