Southport Eco Centre
This competition winning scheme on a prominent seafront site forms the point of arrival for the town's park and ride facility and a key component in the town's transport infrastructure. It is also intended to be a leading edge demonstration of sustainable architecture, and an exhibition centre for the Council's Agenda 21 programme. A 9KW wind turbine, geo-thermal and solar heat sources, produce all of the building's energy needs, and the design provides a practical demonstration of a wide range of sustainable principles and technologies including renewable energy, recycling and minimising environmental impact.
