City Island, Whitley Bay
Cass Associates led a multi-disciplinary team producing a comprehensive long term development strategy for this key site on the resort's seafront. Following extensive market research, public consultation and site appraisal, a high quality, high density, mixed-use scheme was proposed. This included a 4 star hotel, a health and fitness club, a commercial leisure complex, arts centre, remodelled park, housing, parking and comprehensive environmental improvements. Proposals were put forward for delivery and funding, based on a public-private partnership.
