Richard Cass has over 30 years’ experience, working mainly as a consultant. Much of this work has been in a multi-disciplinary context, including the management and delivery of complex, large-scale projects. He has extensive experience as an architect, landscape architect, master planner and urban designer and a thorough working knowledge of the planning system.
He has worked extensively in strategic environmental planning, urban parks, urban design, community forests, historic landscapes and ecologically sensitive areas. He also has specialist experience of urban regeneration and brownfield land issues, including project management and procurement methods. He also takes a keen interest in design of landscape and architecture.
He has worked throughout the UK and extensively abroad. He is a regular speaker at conferences, and has received many awards for his work. He is an adviser to both CABE and CABE Space. He founded Cass Associates in 1983.
Graham Trewhella BSc MCD MRTPI

Graham Trewhella has twenty years postgraduate experience, including eight years in a senior planning role at Merseyside Development Corporation.
Graham has gained a wide range of experience in planning practice and the development and implementation of regeneration projects.
The majority of this experience has been gained from working in multi-disciplinary teams charged with the planning, programming, management and implementation of development projects.
He joined Cass Associates in 1995, and became a partner in 1998.
Kate da Cruz BSc

Associate (Landscape Architect)
Since qualifying in 1996 Kate da Cruz has gained extensive experience
in landscape design and management working in a multi-disciplinary
consultancy context. She has wide experience including feasibility
studies, site masterplanning, visual assessments, urban design,
detailed design, implementation and negotiations with planning
authorities, statutory and non-statutory consultees. She joined
Cass Associates in 1996.
David Hackett
BSc MLD PhD
Associate (Landscape Architect and Ecologist)
As a dual qualified professional, David Hackett has gained significant
experience since qualifying in 1990, including landscape design
and implementation, ecological and landscape assessments, environmental
remediation, project management and the implementation of landscape
and ecological contracts. He joined Cass Associates in 1995.
Peter Hamilton BSc Hons MCD
MRTPI
Associate (Planner)
Peter Hamilton has 10 years experience within both public and
private sectors. He has worked within all aspects of statutory
development planning including policy development, regeneration
and development.
He has extensive experience of working with community groups and
undertaking consultation activities in the context of regeneration
projects, feasibility studies and strategy development. He joined
Cass Associates in 2002.
Mark Line BA Hons
DipArch
Associate (Architect)
Mark Line has worked as an architect and urban designer since
qualifying in 1996. He has extensive experience working on a wide
range of projects at concept, design, presentation, detail and
site construction stages.
He has widespread experience in architecture and the integration
of buildings with their setting.
He is a skilled urban designer and masterplanner, and has wide
experience of ‘green’ technology applied to buildings.
He joined Cass Associates in 1989.
This senior management team is supported by a range of professional, technical and administrative staff, making a total in-house team of around 20 people. We also have well-developed links with a large number of firms and individuals in associated fields, including economics, property, engineering and environmental science, enabling us to provide comprehensive and integrated professional services over a wide range of sectors.
