Landscape Works, Dargavel Village, Scotland

Major landscape works to support the development of 4000 new households, together with amenities such as a primary school, shops and an extensive greenspace network.

  • Includes 46 hectares of public open space, three public squares, play areas and a 450ha Country Park wrapping round the village with natural rocky outcrops, mature trees and wildflower meadows.
  • Over two kilometres of watercourses and eight lakes have been created, designed to attenuate and purify the water from the development while also creating wildlife habitats and an attractive waterside setting for the new housing.
  • Used a range of innovative environmental techniques such as topsoil creation and a bespoke ecological management tool agreed with Scottish Natural Heritage.
  • The newly constructed features, such as footpaths and seating areas, utilise materials reclaimed from the site
